One of the best days in football history

Alas I missed it live by being in Florida... Arsenal needed 2 goals at a stadium that hadnt given up 2 away goals combined in several matches. Smithy got the first but with seconds left it looked all over.......No-one gave them a prayer but it happened and Nick Hornby somehow gets famous.

  • Ah that was the best, we came back from Florida and the first thing Dad did was ask a stewardess who won the league - daft cow thought Liverpool had so we spent a miserable flight back only then to be overjoyed. It was such a scrawpy goal but the first finish ever to a football season and Rich, this proves I remember football before Sky bought their way in!

  • I refuse to ever watch the rip-off version of "Fever Pitch" with non-funny Jimmy Fallon and that fat wench crackhead drunk from E.T.

  • As a United fan I got most of my enjoyment back them from Liverpool occasionally losing. It was a great moment in my life at the time. Up there with Dave Beasants performance in the 88 Cup Final.

  • I remember Beasant's post match interview and he says he was gutted he didnt catch the penalty of Aldrige, I had to laugh.
