Sports Guy on English football
Bill Simmons has decided to pick an English team and follow them for a year. So the article has some inaccuracies but it is entertaining and will probably help educate his regular readers a bit

Bill Simmons is the utmost authority on everything in sports, according to him. He's also the funniest guy he knows in Boston. I'm tired of this espn.com hack, a tireless self-promoting journalist who enjoys name-dropping more than critical analysis. Typical of the "Sportscenter" generation, he's a dime a dozen. The fact that he picked Tottenham shows his lack of heart. I hate it when non-soccer (football) writers decide to write stories about it...he should have picked The Crew.

Correct, Bolton a possible trendy pick? Whoever told him that was completely taking the piss.

I still think any exposure in the States is healthy for the sport. Granted, nothing is more annoying than some of the idiots who have embraced it here and a)turn up at the boozer expecting Arsenal to be televised every week or b) insist that Roy Keane and Robbie Keane were brothers c)misuse the word "derby" d)use Americanisms to describe play whilst watching at the pub e) generally act as if they are knowledgable while knowing f^&k all. That being said, the more of these bozos watching it the less likely you are to turn up at a bar and be told they won't show the match because the NFL pregame is on.
On balance, Simmons writing about the league is a healthy development unless you prefer to be among the cognesceti in this country with limited access to watch matches. I would rather have all the eejits in the world write about the sport if it meant we could have Sky Sports (proper) in this country
