United V Pool

Credit where credit is due, united at half strength somehow beat Liverpool - i felt united were lucky in truth as Liverpool dominated the first 70 minutes but as they faded United picked it up a bit and pulled out a very good late goal. You can never count them bastards out. Rooney again was terrific, I hate the fat bastard but he is the best player this country has, yes even better than Drogba. Englands World Cup chances are on him. By contrast, liverpool relied on Cisse - one of the worst strikers to ever grace the Premiership and not good enough for Middlesbrough yet alone liverpool - his fluff in front of goal was priceless and what is wrong with his hair?? Commentator summed it up by saying Liverpool's team with Ruud and rooney welded onto it would be about all that can challenge Chelsea.

  • Fair play to yenited - they've been on the wrong end of smash and grabs themselves. Could you spot the home team, though?

Watch this space for the Gary "bad 'tache" Nev's celebration fall out.

  • I think "Liverpool dominated the first 70 minutes" and "smash and grab" are definitely overstatements lads. We were never going to control the midfield and Liverpool had more of the possession but how many clear cut chances did they have apart from that 5 second spell where they had 3? How many saves did Van Der Saar have to make? Liverpool had more of the possession but it was always going to be like that. Does anyone think we would be stupid enough to try to outpass Alonso and Gerrard with O'Shea and Giggs? I'll watch the match again tomorrow night since sometimes its tough to analyse things in a match this big when you are nervous and only the result matters.

Don't make it sound like you pounded us for 90 minutes but we somehow hung on and sneaked a later winner. You are only fooling yourself if that's what you think. If you were so on top why did you manager, who Liverpool fans see as being infallible, take off a midfielder and bring on a defender late in the game? Hardly the actions of a team pounding us?

And before you write some rant about Gary Neville, can you point me to the one you wrote about Robbie Fowler doing the same in front of the United fans the Saturday before last?

More worried about Scholes right now anyway.

  • I'm not saying Nev's celebration is wrong with me - but there was a police report filed and so there will be fallout. Clearly worse has happened by the report states that his actions may have helped fuel clashes after the game.

I don't think we battered you, but when was the last time you had 42% possesion at home?

  • I may have overstated as its true Liverpool didnt batter United or anything but they certainly had control over the game for the first 70 mins but that doesnt win games. I heard that Fergie is considering a 30 million bid for Anton Ferdinand?

  • With your midfield I expected you to have more possession and you did. Didn't threaten us too much though.

Ya, United and Liverpool fans had never fought after a game before until that nasty Gary Neville.

Last I heard the police had said Neville had done nothing illegal. Am busy this morning though so have not done much surfing yet.

  • I doubt anything will happen to Neville - I dont think he did all that much and he himself said those who are moaning are the same people who accused him earlier of not showing passion this season - frankly I think doing that is funny so long as it doesnt start a riot. I laughed when Fowler did it too.

United have officially no midfield now - Scholes is obviously seriously ill with something as he is ruled out for the season, O Shea a month, Smith for a while... United have never been weaker in the middle - Blackburn are getting them at a good time in the Crap Cup.

  • Ya its definitely pretty bad right now. We can still put out a pretty respectable midfield though.
Remember Evra can also play in midfield apparently.

    Van Der Saar
    Neville Rio Wes Evra
    Rooney Fletcher Giggs Richardson
    Ruud Saha

Ole has played plenty of midfield in his time and should be getting fitter and Ronaldo will be back after the Blackburn game. Smith and Park should not be too far away either. Rossi can also play deeper. I also think Rooney would do well in centre-midfield....better than sticking him out on the right actually. Would like to see it but whose to say we were ever going to play a full strength side against Blackburn anyway?

We have this kid out on loan right now called David Jones who we have very high hopes for. Might be worth recalling his ass too.

Sometimes we play better in the face of adversity. Its when we get cocky and complacent is when I worry for us. I think we'll get through this period ok.

I don't approve of us spending in Jan to get over this crisis. We need to solve the midfield problem once and for all this Summer and should save every penny we have to do it right then - Diarra, Mascherano, Gattuso, Graveson etc - even if it means coming 3rd this season.
