Carragher praises Arsenal

I understand putting country first but calling Arsenal the "best footballing team in the country" is a bit much. I'm sure he did not really say that. http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=377060&CPID=8&clid=&lid=2&title=Carra+backing+for+Gunners

  • I dont know Chris - he said this "I hope they do well. The football they play is outstanding. They probably are the best footballing team in the country."

In terms of attractive free flowing footy, I think we do play the best stuff , certainly since January. In terms of who is the best team, well that's not always the team that plays the most exciting football - teams like Bolton and Blackburn are high up this year and I cant call them footballing sides - they are hoofers and workhorses.

  • Yes and no. I think Simon is right in his characterization of Carra's comments, but I also think those comments are a bit too generous. Best footballing side? I think Arsenal have played as atrractively as anyone else at times, but I find it hard to assign that kind of credit to a team that so consistently has trouble with the hoofing sides like Bolton.

  • Carra is spot on.

Arsenal are the 'best footballing team' but not the 'best football team'.

  • Surely that depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is,"

  • Actually watched the match yesterday afternoon. Not sure if it was my cable or the transmission; it kept cutting out
Buffon made several great saves and Juventus could not stay on-side. Can't say much more.

  • Though I'm not an Arsenal supporter, I will give them credit for playing with both passion and panache. When FL takes off on a run, when Cesc makes a veteran look foolish, and when Henry pulls a ball down out of the air with a touch on his friggin' shin (that lands perfectly to set him up for a shot at the 18), I actually get chills. The Chelsea and ManUtd robots are just not that enjoyable to watch; I won't comment on my own boys at MCFC. Can only hope that they will win it all in Europe, though they might need a bit more composure in the back.

  • Hey...United play some good stuff. Don't be comparing us to the shit Chelsea play.
