Have you seen the line-up of commentators that ESPN is going to throw at us for the World Cup? Derek Rae and Tommy Smythe aren't the worst of it at all.
'Cello's there. We saw yesterday how good 'Cello was last night in the CL Final.
Derek Rae-"Cello, which is your favorite CL Final?"
'Cello-"Uh, well...last year's was pretty good."
Brilliant. With 4 years notice, this guy is what they've got in store for us? And he's supported by the ilk of Julie Foudy. Great teeth to be sure, but c'mon!
Not that it's going to do any good this year, but enough signatures might get ESPN thinking about casting the net a little more selectively.

Anyone else? Who is the "baseball guy" mentioned in petition? Also, who was the "TV guy" at halftime. The Phoenix was so mobbed I didn't see or much less hear any HT stuff.

Bob Ley doing soccer is Vin Scully doing baseball compared to Rae, Smyth, Jack Edwards (horrible!), Balboa (loser at every level he ever played) and Foudy. Uh, yeh, Heather Mitts sucks ass too - on and off the field.
Ley is balanced and doesn't speak too much (except for saying "it's in the danger zone" on every cross). The rest are shite. I would rather a couple of drunks doing FSC fanzone matches than the rest of these dullards. I would rather watch in silence.

Anthony Lapaglia, Georgio Canale, Balboa and Tommy Smyth are my dream line up..... I am thankfully in England for most of the Cup though they have only good commentators, the half time punditry has sunk badly over there.

RTE has the best half time team. Trust me. Always colourful and controversial. The highlight of 02 was Dunphy showing up to do a 7am Irish Time game fucked drunk straight from a nightclub - left before the game claiming he was "tried and emotional"
