My immediate impression is that when the likes of Neville, Lahm, Palacio, Deigo, Gonzalez, Carra, Huntelaar, and Stankovic make a top-footballers list, you really need to limit the number to the top 25 and not 50.
Secondly, even as the national sides become more and more irrelevant, surely a criterion for greatness should be performance at the international level. Which immediately consigns Lampard for one to the category of that skinny dodgy Saudi "keeper" with 1500 caps, while eliminating the others who have yet to be tested at that level.
Dear God... Fat Frank?? Shockingly out of position, no Riquelme is a surprise as I have seen a lot of him and think he's terrific. For the mostpart not a bad list and i agree with the top 5. With luck Van Persie will be joining the full list next year. Jamie Carragher??? Worlds top 50. No chance.
This is a football (soccer) blog - here we post anything that will interest us in the world of the beautiful game - be it the Premiership, MLS, the World Cup
