Enhancements and Talking Points

Hope everyone is enjoying the world cup. One enhancement and then some musings. I've added site meter to the blog code so we can see who is visiting and when and where they come from both in terms of referrals and physical location. The link is at the bottom of ever page, or you can access it here: http://www.sitemeter.com/?a=stats&s=s25molby My favourite hit comes from a google search for "john harkes is an asshole". Nice to know we cater to that market. Also Who ate all the fries, a US perspective soccer blog linked to us: http://www.whoateallthefries.com/ http://www.whoateallthefries.com/2006/06/less_than_24_hrs_to_opening_ga_1.html Cheers Miss Charlie. I have no idea who you are but welcome and feel free to comment. Perhaps one of our contributors can swing by and say "hi" to them. We could have our first blog-friend. AaaaaahhHHHHH! In t'other news from rumour mill:
  • Fergie told porkies about Rooney's injury and asked him not to go
  • Kuyt to Liverpool done? Marseille still want Cisse...
  • I scored two on Satdee. Fuggin Gerrin there!
  • Crouch's bird sent home after angel's dandruff pictures are found (Miss Charlie?)
  • France make me laugh. I mock you, Frenchies!
  • Found myself cheering for the US vs Italy. Italy will low on skill by high on diving and I felt that most of the calls that went against the US (both red cards and the offside goal) were questionable - so feel hard done by but proud of that that performance. I will be submitting this pararaph towards my green card approval.

  • nice little addition Rich - good stuff, I am pleased to be the first poster from the UK!

Kuyt to Liverpool ..hmm, dont think so as reports have you putting in a 6 mill bif for Bellamy today.

France are woeful but will still qualify with a final win over Togo and the probably face Spain.

    Fergie probably hates Rooney now.

  • How did this person find us to put on their blog? Saw on theirs that Brian Ching has a blog as well. He looks really tough with his hoodie in that "These colors don't run" MLS advert. Pablo looks like a gang member, hardcore man. Landon of course still looks like the shifty not to be trusted pussy that he is. Who are they trying to kid with this commercial? Most of these guys are soft as shite and trying to make the MLS look tough to have "street cred" is laughable.

Also, why does ABC feel compelled to show someone putting weights on a barebell as the lead-in to their interviews with US players. "Gouch" I can understand but you're having a laugh with Client Dempsey. He may be a talented and tough player but he's still small. Trying to out muscle American football is not credible.

  • Don't know that France will qualify considering Switzerland's victory today and Zidane missing the match. On paper they should win but then again on paper they should have won the last two as well.

Was discussing the team prior to the match with a French person who stated 1) most French people are not happy with Barthez being the first choice keeper over Coupet, who is more reliable 2) Henry does not play that well for the French side. While he may play very well for Arsenal he does not replicate that level of play for France, Trezeguet.

Apparently, Zidane gave a talking to some players after the Swiss match including Henry. Also, can't say that Henry's goal was class. Most strikers would have put that away though Henry was running around a lot yesterday challenging for possession.

  • Barthez is cack - he has been cack since Fergie offed him, cant understand why he is the number one. A good coach would have put Coupet in, a good coach would also switch Robinho for Ronaldo.
Henry's goal was ordinary , the one he missed was the one he had to take and didnt. I watched Togo today and its by no means certain France will beat them but it makes for a good finish. Spain tonight were terrific, despite losing for a long time. Fabregas came on and turned it, fantastic player. Henry will be scoring for fun for us with Rosicky and Fabregas picking teams apart, that is until United comes along and kick them.

  • Rich - greencard denied. Pack your bags.

  • Torres tonight could have scored enough goals to wrap up the Golden boot for the next 7 world cups to come.... but ended up with just 2.

  • Yeah, with all these goals France are shipping Barthez is obviously the problem. Henry, Zidane, Viera, Wiltord, Riberi and co play so well together and can't stop scoring but Barthez and the opther lepers at the back are costing them dear.

  • i dont know whats wrong with France, it would be quicker to say what's right with them. Barthez is definitely well past it, so is Zidane, Thuram etc.. As ever the French ego problem is there - I had them as final four but now I cant see them getting through the second round. Germany and England today - will they meet?

  • The worst thing about the Barthez decision was that the manager said he left the decision up to the goalkeeper coach. Really nice.

  • Barthez refused to give an interview to SSN in English yesterday, insisting they speak French to him.

  • I saw that on SSN as well. They enjoyed filming that segment

  • Oooh I look forward to the Walcott debate really getting hot now that Owen is crocked. I had a tenner on the bastard to score last night as well.

By Blogger TheBusbyBoy, at 12:58 AM

  • Christ, just heard Owen crocked for 5 months... poor sod. Still - if we beat Ecuador and then Holland/Portugal we will be in the semis! Lets hope...

  • I had you down to lose to the Dutch in the last 8 of my predictor. Thought, like most I am sure, you would be beating Poland in the last 16.

By Blogger TheBusbyBoy, at 11:24 AM

  • I had us out to Portugal in the quarters. Hope I'm wrong.
