SPOILER Germany-Sweden

Germany deserve their lead, but how much do I want to smack this idiotic grinning ref?! A lot. Terrible sending off which basically has wrecked the rest of the match. I had hoped FIFA would sort the refs out by 2nd round, but this does not bode well.

  • Nope, officially, they still stand behind these dolts.

Blatter and co. should be strung up by their tiny testicles for allowing this to go on and on and on and on...

  • The ref really was having a laugh giving that card. The first yellow was a bit questionable as well.

  • That ref was a shocker - second yellow never .. and that smile. Jesus. Dont remember the yellow.

Anyone seen the "Heinze" incident. Had to be red...

  • I agree - bolt on Red - last man professional foul.

  • That was ridiculous. How can the ref give yellow for that? Clearly red.I came into this match for Argentina - I've now switched my allegiance, fantasy points be damned.

  • Very good game and settled by a Scorchin goal - subs decided it, Mexico's were crap, Argentina's were great. Still Argentina are beatable, and Germany are in great form. Mexico can feel aggrieved by yet more poor reffing.

  • Am trying to remember the Heinze incident but, apart from that, whatever it is, I thought the ref in the Argentina game was outstanding. He let the game flow despite lots of niggly stuff. Other refs would have dished out a load of yellows and ruined the game. He let lots of physical stuff go but gave out yellows for any dissent which was very fair in my book. I think I missed the Heinze incident but, no matter what it was, his performance over 120 mins superb I thought.

Great day for me in the betting world. Had money on Crespo to score and less than 2.5 goals in that game. (90 mins) Unlike my mate Vinny who had money on over 2.5 goals and Larsson to score in the Sweden game. A former German player in Euro 96 was mentioned when he missed that penalty.

Tomorrow I have gone for over 2 goals in the Holland game and a few quid on Gerrard and Lampard to score (individually)

I am the king of under-overs.

  • Had to be red on Heinze - last man. He made a bad mistake, then fouled the player - anywhere else on the pitch and its yellow but last man denying clear goalscoring chance (Ayala was nowhere near) and thats a red. That winning goal was spectacular, like Cole's only better!

  • John - how did you miss Heinze? He was at fault for the Mexican goal and should have been sent off! Were you watching the History Channel instead? Did Crespo get the goal - that was dubious, BBC all thought own goal. I thought it was tough to tell but leant towards OG. You probably were still watching the History Channel.

The best 8 teams in the history of footy (I dont count Uruguay) are all still alive in this Cup.

Argentina, Germany, Spain, England, France, Brazil, Italy, Holland. What a quart final line up we could have as 7 of those may be in them!
