You would think "Big Sam" would have enough to worry about what with losing to Derby, bung allegations and general state of Newcastle football versus Geordie expectations but no. He has to go popping off in a magazine about Benitez being lucky to have a job and how Europe saved him. Per Allardyce, priority should be on success domestically and then Europe. A bit rich from someone who won f$ck all.
Yes you could say he did a good job with Bolton but it is an open question whether Bolton's troubles are a result of his leaving or problems that were there when he was still there. I opt for the latter.
Additionally, I don't understand the attack on Benitez. You can criticise the squad rotation that he employed for a while but he seems to have done a good job with Liverpool and the football is more enjoyable to watch for the neutral than the long balls that Liverpool employed before his arrival.

I hate Fat Sam, always have. Bolton he worked miracles with but I always hated him and i hated their style of play. THey are the bullying sort of players - KEvin's Davies and NOlan are just workhorse hoofers who kick you a lot, much like half of the Blackburn side who i also hate.
I have no idea why Sam is banging on about Newcastle but considering his side just got beat by Derby he should shut his mouth in future.

I love how the papers just see words in a quote and mash them together into a sensational headline:
What he said:
"Rafa would be very lucky to be in a job if he hadn't got to two Champions League finals"
What he didn't say: "Rafa is lucky to have a job" or "Liverpool were lucky to get to two finals"
What he is trying to say is if it wasn't for his record in Europe it is unlikely that Benitez would still be Liverpool manager based on his domestic record alone.
I don't think many would argue with that. He was just a dope to use the word lucky.
Its a stupid point anyway because Liverpool did win a CL and almost won another. That would buy any manager more time.
If Liverpool don't win the league this year I don't know when they will. They finally seem to have the real deal up front in Torres, Chelsea are dropping some funny points, Arsenal might still be a bit on the young side and United have some new players to settle in.

I like Big Sam. One of Limerick City FC's finest ex-managhers.
