Tottenham Board

Chuck D once intoned "it's weak to speak and blame somebody else when you destroy yourself". This may apply to Tottenham's board and Daniel Levy in particular. That footballer-cum-scholarly writer Ian Wright is now claiming that the only summer Tottenham signing that Martin Jol wanted was Gareth Bale which looks to be a good bit of business. Wright wrote in the Sun " "Word reaches me that not all of Tottenham's summer signings were brought in by Jol. "In fact, it appears that the arrival of Gareth Bale was the only one he requested and this is extremely worrying. " Puts a different gloss on things.

  • I know that Jol didnt buy his players this Summer - he didnt opt for Bent.
In a way I feel sorry for Jol - he is a decent bloke, knows a lot about football and pulled up a crap side and made them top 5 material. However he hasnt done enough against the big sides and right now he has the players to succeed and they seem to be going backwards though i am sure they could go win 3 or 4 in a row with that team.
He is definitely a dead man walking - its a case of when Ramos wants the job as to when Jol is given the boot.

  • Also Jenas just signed a new 5 year contract - Arsenal were allegedly offered that turkey for 15 million by Newcastle a few years ago - thank God we didnt waste our money on that - he is so poor.

  • Simon, I take it your response could best be summed up with, "You kill my, I'm gonna slay your cat." Tough not to feel for Jol, but Spurs seem more or less stuck as underachievers yet again. Would have been interesting to see SGE end up there, but he has his hands full enough at Citeh. Not to blur posts, but it'd be fun to see someone of Big Sam's ilk take Spurs and run the club into the ground in his own special way. So much for jogo bonito at White Hart Lane.

  • Ughh Fat Sam...
HOw i hate him and his vision of football - Spurs and SAm would have lasted 5 minutes. SPurs like to at least play decent football - Sam likes to find inexpensive monsters who kick it high in the air and kick you while the ref is looking up.

  • Vision of football? From a guy who grew up watching a George Graham team.

Jol is better off out of there. Wasted on that lot. I love watching Spurs play football and always have but they are such a tragedy.
